Discovery

Today Lola took a long morning nap, so Noah and Mommy had time to play. We played with the Eye Clops that Noah got for his birthday. The Eye Clops is a microscope for kids that projects onto the TV screen. We had fun looking at things like salt, cat hair, clothing, and jewelry. Maybe we have a future research scientist on our hands??? Only time with tell.

Noah asked me to make the writing pink because that is his favorite color.

Warmer Weather

We are loving the new warmer weather - there is something so cute about seeing baby toes and feet! Lola has been able to wear a couple of her sun dresses and boy does she look cute! These are pictures of her in her dress that Tia Heather bought for her. She has also learned to talk to us. It is so much fun to have conversations with her.

We had a great Mommy and Lola weekend, as Daddy was working at a rugby tournament and Noah went to spend the weekend with his Gamma and Pops. Noah had such a good time there that he spent most of the drive home to Kettleman crying about how he didn't want to come home (doesn't that make a parent feel good).

Noah is still loving having a sister and is learning to be more gentle. The other night he was singing her a lullaby - and I quote
"Lullaby and goodnight. Sleep tight sweet Lola. I love you so much. You are such a cutie pie. I love you even when you cry. I love you even when you spit up." Now if that isn't love then what is???

Swim Lessons and Illness

The 14th of April we woke up early and found that Noah has already begun sharing with Lola (a cold that is). It made us so sad to see our baby sick. In addition to having a very stuffy nose that kept her from eating or sleeping well, she learned to cry with big tears.
Also, Noah went to his weekly swim lesson and Daddy had time to take pictures...

BBQ

On Sunday the 13th of April we had a BBQ at Gamma and Pop's house. It was beautiful outside and Lola got to wear her very first halter top. Noah had a great time playing with his cousin Frankie in the water (although Tia Megan and her sister were sorry they were sitting so close). It was nice to get to show our 2 smart kids to everyone. We even managed to get a few family pics...

Rugby Game

On Saturday April 12th, we took Lola to her second rugby game. It was quite warm in Arroyo Grande, and we spent most of the day under the pop-up tent. Noah was excited to have Jaxon and Andrew to play with. Unfortunately, Daddy wasn't as happy as Noah (his team lost by "a lot"). Lola did great and didn't even realize she was at a rugby game; she spent the whole time asleep in Gamma's lap.

3 weeks old

Lola is now 3 weeks old. She had another doctor's visit today. She now weighs 8 pounds and 8 ounces (up 1 pound 8 ounces from the last visit when she was 3 days old). She is 1 inch taller now and her head is 2 cm bigger. Daddy is getting used to the cloth diapering. Mommy likes the cloth diapers because they come in cute patterns and colors (see picture above). Lola seems to like them too, but for a more practical reason (they are soft).

We knew even before we went to the doctor today that she was getting bigger - her newborn hats no longer cover both ears at the same time, and her wrists now have rolls. She is getting more alert and her Memaw swears that she knows how to smile.

Here is a picture of her in her very cute outfit and her too small hat

Lola's Weekend of Firsts

Lola and Noah got to have lunch at Round Table with Daddy's friends from work on April 4th. One of Daddy's friends, Danielle, wanted to take Lola home with her. However, Noah was quick to explain that she could come and visit, but was not allowed to take Lola home.

Also on Friday, Gamma came to visit. Noah was so excited - he even let Gamma sleep in his bed. He was even more excited when Gamma said that his bed was much more comfortable than Mommy and Daddy's (their bed is too hard).

Since Lola's cord stump came off on April 2nd, we were able to give her her first real bath. We waited for Gamma to get here so that she could see. Lola cried (as we expected since she cries even with a wet washcloth), but by the end she seemed like she almost enjoyed it. It took a few hours for our hearing to get better, but we are fully recovered now.

Then on April 5th (sorry, no pics, so you'll have to take our word for it), Lola went to her first rugby game. She was less than enthused with Fresno's play (Dad wasn't either), and slept through the whole thing. Noah did have a good time introducing Lola to all of his rugby friends.

Today, on April 6th, Lola went to our church for the first time. She looked like an angel. However, God forgot to tell us that angels were so grumpy. She did fine during the music, but then she decided she was hungry. We tried and tried to get her to eat, but apparently she doesn't appear to have the multi-tasking gene that her mother has. It wasn't until we were at the car and things were quiet that she was able to settle down and have her snack.

Update on Lola (and Noah too)

It has taken me a while to update, but as you can imagine, things are busy at our house. Lola is 2 weeks old today and doing well. She is sleeping almost 4 hours at a time and is spending more time awake. She enjoys it when Noah sings quietly to her, or tells her stories about his imaginary friend Bobby.

Easter was a great day and it already felt like Lola had been with us forever. She got to spend some time outside for the first time while Noah hunted easter eggs. We are truly blessed to have such beautiful children.

Since leaving the hospital, she has had her fist doctor visit. She weighed 7 pounds at 3 days of life, and this was very good. Babies can loose up to 7% of their birth weight in the first few days, and she lost less than 3%. As you can tell, she is eating well and now has 3 chins and many rolls on her bum.

Yesterday, Noah and Lola's great Aunt Lola came to meet her. The brought her tons of cute clothes and 3 new pair of baby shoes. Daddy is starting to worry that having a girl is going to be very expensive (there are too many accessories involved).
